ComEd Rec Center, located within Addams Park, offers youth programming for all age groups. Registration for our programming is held through the Chicago Park District website. Open programming such as our Open Basketball, Open Pickleball, Open Turf and Open Volleyball, are offered for drop-in or guests may pre-register in advance on the Chicago Park District website.

Open Programming

Open Basketball, Volleyball, Pickleball, Turf, and Track is offered at various times throughout the week. Drop-ins are welcome, or guests may register in advance on the Chicago Park District website to secure their spot. Open Turf and Open Track are limited to guests ages 18+ unless accompanied by an adult. Open Volleyball and Open Pickleball are 18+, and certain Open Basketball time slots may age restricted.

Monday-Friday: 7:00am-9:00am

Monday & Friday: 8:30pm-10:30pm

Saturday: 2:00pm - 4:00pm (Saturdays open to ages 10-16 only)

Open Volleyball

Wednesday: 9:15pm-10:30pm

$7 drop-in fee
Open Turf 6:30am-3pm $5 drop-in fee
Open Track

6:30am-3pm Monday-Friday

Free. Sign-in at the front desk.
Open Pickleball 10am-12pm Tuesday & Thursday $5 drop-in fee

Activities & Programs

Baseball

This instructional activity provides youngsters the opportunity to learn basic skills in a non-competitive environment. Skills covered include running, batting, sliding, pitching and catching. We have several different programs for kids of all ages and skill levels.

Basketball

Through drills and passing exercises, individuals will raise their level of play and understanding of the game. Various levels of play are offered for youth as well as Open Basketball for adults and teens at select times throughout the week.

Play School

Play School provides an opportunity for socialization and interaction with peers through group activities. A variety of activities will help to develop motor and social skills in a playful setting. Free play and activities like music, games and creative crafts help to enhance a child’s experience away from parents.

40 minutes of High Intensity Interval training, lead by a certified fitness instructor. No equipment needed.

Football

The proper fundamentals and techniques of football will be taught in this activity. Players will receive instruction in passing, catching and skills training.

Floor Hockey

This modified version of ice hockey can be played in athletic shoes with a small ball and hockey sticks. Our maximize the fun by including an exciting mix of instruction, drills, and games.

Soccer

ComEd Rec Center offers both indoor and outdoor soccer programming for all ages on our synthetic turf fields. Participants will learn the basic skills, rules and fundamentals of soccer, through ball handling, other drills and close instruction. Skills will be taught in a friendly and fun way, emphasizing teamwork and fair play.

Participants will learn the basics of sprinting, hurdling, relay running and field events, as well as proper warm up and flexibility exercises. Athletes may have the opportunity to compete with their peers at Chicago Park District area, regional and citywide championship meets.
